Cleaning out the Mango tree (forum)

After a heavy pruning last year the tree bunched with many shoots. I left it until now to trim as it has finished fruiting. What branches left should now spread and hang in towards our yard.
Because we have a reasonably wet climate we need to open these trees to stop disease. As you can see by that branch it is covered in aphids under the canopy and it would almost impossible to get spray to penetrate there.

Looks like quite a big job Wayne. Did you get any fruit this season?

I got a really good crop Sophie [several 100] thanks mainly to the heavy pruning last year to open the tree up. The year before we got just a couple of dozen fruit.
I started spraying once a week as soon as I noticed the anthracnose starting which was about a month before they flowered, then stoped when they flowered and then started again after the fruit had set and continued for another month or so.
