Hey guys,

I recently got a nice little Malaysian Coconut palm. I'm living in Fremantle.... am I wasting my time and money?

Pushing the envelope for those to grow well here in Perth unfortunately. Many have tried with little to no success. Almost as the hard as the Lipstick palms to keep alive with our winter weather. I've had three attempts with the Malayan dwarfs but with no luck after all the attention I have given them. Our winters sets them back big time. If you've got a hot house with heaters for winter it will do alright but anything else is a struggle. Shame though as it is lovely plant.

Hi Hort-master and Rahaidi, any tips on where to purchase these coconuts in Perth? I have been keeping an eye out for awhile with no luck. I have a spot where it should be relatively easy to coddle them so I'm prepared to take a chance. Thanks

Try contacting the palms nursery here in Perth and try your luck there. Otherwise you could ask them to get an order in. Either Palms Galore or Premier Palms. They would probably come from Darwin so they need to get well adjusted and protected in their first winter here in Perth.

If you're still interested, try Leeming Fruit Tree Nursery. They had a bunch of malay coconut palm seedlings last I checked
