See attached photo of leaf and fruit. Tall tropical tree. Fruit is acidic with 2 flat seeds.

Not a burdekin plum although the maroon colour is similar.The fruit don't have the abbreviated bell shape and the leaf edge is serrated.BP has a single huge ridged seed

Sorry I read it wrong.It does look like the southern form of DP.Was the flesh deep red and juicy?

I see the wild ones up here with bigger and hairier fruit and cassowaries eat them like smarties.A friend planted both types at 1000m between Ravenshoe and Millaa Millaa with visions of a commercial crop. It is one of the coldest places up here and had frost last night when it was 14 in Cairns 100km away.
