You won't get 100% fruit set, well, I never have here. This mature vine had over 50 flowers and ended up with 40 odd fruits, so it was roughly an 80% success rate.

They are very forgiving. Only a few things fot success, both the rootstock and scion segments should be young and growing with no woody core, match up the vascular tissue (the ring in the middle) and bind together well enough the that the union will be tight even if the scion dries out a bit and shrinks. I like to use a 6 inch scion and make the cut at 45 degrees, tape them together with sticky tape then wrap. They would work with tape only but wrapping keeps the moisture in. I'm sure others have a better way but I have only had thesefail when birds decide to perch on them.

Other than top working a existing vine or making a fruit salad dragonfruit I doubt there is much use in it, they grow so darn fast once they get going. I've done some for interest but it't not like a fruit tree where you save a tonne of time. A 30cm cutting can make 180cm in a year.

Not sure about grafting unless you are after a fruit salad plant consisting of your favourite varieties. These are 2 that I have recently crossed with the hope of something special. Epi x dragonfruit.
