Durian Lover's Around The World (forum)

Hello,
I hope there are some durian lovers here. This is my first post on this forum, although I am fairly active (lurker at least) at the Tropical Fruit Forum.
I have been researching durians for the past three years and I run a website about durians at www.yearofthedurian.com
I'm currently working on a study about beliefs and experiences of durian lovers around the world. It is, I believe, the first survey to include Western durian lovers.
So far we have had participants from 27 countries. I hope that you will join us by taking the survey here https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/durianlover2
Or at least this post sparks off a discussion of durian addicts and what makes durian so special :)
Thanks!
- Lindsay

OOoowwww, if only we could grow one here in zone 10a. Heading over to the survey now.
I was quite content with the frozen type which is the only form available here, until a trip to Indo last year absolutely spoilt me.
I've had to readjust back to the frozen fruit since returning.

You durian lovers are a strange breed. You couldn't pay me to eat durian tbh.
There must be something to this stinky fruit though as it's extremely popular.

John, with your expertise, surely you can construct a glass house and plant a few?
I had a debate with another friend on the merits of leaving the rambutans to the tropics but as they say, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I'm in the middle of building a largish poly-tunnel now, hope to have it completed before the onset of the cooler weather. I'll be trying to keep an Abiu alive before I attempt anything like a Durian.
