Dwarf red mulberry graft (forum)

Hi Daley's community,
I recently purchased a dwarf red shahtoot Mulberry, but whilst planting in ground this weekend I noticed the graft looks a bit flaky/ weak? Is this a concern?

I am new to mulberry, but the graft certainly appears less healthy and healed over than other grafted fruit trees I have (citrus and stone fruit).

Nah. The type of graft is called whip and tongue, and sometimes they won't heal perfectly. Just keep the tree happy, give it some time, and it'll grow and fix itself. I've had similar trees, like a bad habit they just grow out of it (haha).
Have a great day.

And a basic bit of tree care, remove any buds below the graft, it looks like there might be some from the photos.
