Lemons - Considering planting either Eureka or Dwarf Eureka Lemon. Is there any downside to the dwarf? eg do they take longer to start fruiting?
I'm in Sydney. Planting in the ground.

dwarfs are a little bit slower in vigour. But can fruit straight away - as most grafted citrus would. It depends on size of tree and whether it is strong enough to support fruit.

The upside is that the dwarfs are small and fairly manageable.

the key question is, do you have the space for a 4m-5m tall tree (full size).

Thanks Brain,
The dwarf would be more suitable regarding space in my garden. The alternative for me would be to keep pruning the non-dwarf once it became more than about 3m. But if there's no real downside for the dwarf, then that would obviously be a better choice.

you should give it a go. Also, you can grow non-dwarf citrus in pots and keep them fairly small.

I have a fino (non-dwarf) in a pot, does pretty well, only about 1.5m tall. Though only a few lemons per year.
