I have this cutting of a fig tree i got from a friend this winter. he said it did fruit last year and i am trying to revive it from a dry as dry can get "dormant state"(honestly think it just died). it had a few dry broken leaves i just snapped off. i re-potted it from its small nursery pot to the one that it is in. Any tips on getting it to come back to life. im watering it about 2 times a week no fertilizer or when i see its noticeably dry

Sorry to say, but it looks dead. If it were not dead, it would be actively growing this time of year.

Are you in Australia? If you're just coming out of winter overseas there's chance that the 'stick' might sprout again. There seems to be a few healthy looking buds lower down but definitely cut off the black bits; could be die back. Figs are so easily grown from cuttings that I tend to think you should simply get some more from friends and plant those.

I am in canada so i am just comming out of winter.. i did water it alot when i got it to try and bring it back because the soil was dryer then dry because the person i got it from read you shouldnt water it during "dormancy"... those buds have been there for about 3 weeks now no change unless i havent noticed a change.. i did figure the top 6-8 inches was dead ill prune it when i get a chance.. also i have no idea where my friend got this cutting so i cant go get a new one and the $39.95 on the pot it came in is kind of a down fall
