Fig tree variety ID (forum)

Eat Some Fruit starts with ...
I’m hoping someone can help me identify the variety of fig tree in my yard. I’ve owned this place for 11yrs & it’s only borne fruit last year & this year. The tree is at least 50yo according to son of original owner. From what I can find, I’m leaning towards Preston Prolific or Black Genoa. Any suggestions on how to identify before fruit is ripe?
