Finger limes (forum)

I found these finger limes in the local grocery store in Northern NSW. I plan to grow some from seed. Can anyone advise on any special tips for planting citrus seed? Thanks.

Hi Phil, Louis G. says plant asap as viability is reduced markedly as the seed dries out, I have seen citrus seed germinate while still in the fruit. He wasn't talking about fingerlimes but I would think it would be similar. Good luck.

Thanks Jantina
Would you like any seed? They seem to be a particularly large fruited cultivar.

What do they taste like Phil? Anything like other limes? They look like sausages!

Yes a very strong limey, pleasant citrus flavour. The texture inside is like caviar, small vesicles rather than segments like other citrus.

This is what they look like on the inside. They are native to the rainforests around here in NSW

I don't have any finger lime trees (yet) myself, but I've heard that when you grow them from seed, they aren't true to type, ie. you might get completely different fruits on the plants that you grow, and NOT get the nice large fruit you have purchased from the supermarket.
Someone who knows what they're on about should jump in here now ;)
