I was wondering if I could buy a Fragrant Pear tree in Australia and if so would it grow on the mid north coast.

I brought some in the local supermarket but they are from China..I wasn't sure if we could buy the trees in Aus.They are like a Nashi to look at but are much smaller and very refreshing to eat.

Yes, The ones sold in super market are imported from China : Tsu li and Yali. They have been grown in NSW for the last 10 years

I have not seen these local grown Fruits sold in the market but I believe These trees can be found in Nursery in Australia. DPI NSW may know.

I think Lorraine may be talking about Ya pears which are exclusively grown in China.

These red bear plums look good - are they of asian origin too..?
Recently been loving the D'Anjou pears so much that I am going to have to plant a tree myself now!
They are lovely - and a very old cultivar from Belgium I am told...
(they are a little similar to these red bears so I am curious...
or is that "bears" a typo error?
