Fruit set in Passiflora alata (forum)

I purchased a Fragrant Granadilla (Passiflora alata) from Daleys in September 2007, the vine established well, flowered in January 2008, but set no fruit. The same problem has arisen this year, and despite hand pollination of the new flowers that open each morning, there is still no fruit set. Bees do not appear to be attracted to these flowers (bright red)which have only a faint perfume. I would appreciate any advice that forum readers (or Daleys staff) might have to get these plants to set fruit.

can you post a picture?
i wouldnt describe my alata as having
bright red flowers, more multi coloured
with an extremely strong perfume.
they are not self fertile so need cross
polination from another plant which i have tried but still no fruit set.
just for the sake of it try hand pollinating at night time.

Thanks Peter, Photo attached, I had confirmed its identity from Wikapedia. Do you think this is correct. If the plant is self sterile, it would have been helpful if this info. had been included in Daleys Catalogue.

yes it is an alata.
there is somebody else here in adelaide
which has had a single plant for many
years with no fruit.
you will have to get another plant for
cross polination if you want fruit.

you could take a cutting from your plant but im not sure wheather that
would count as a polinator for the mother plant.
