I'd use 1 part premium potting mix, 1 part garden soil & 1 part sharp sand plus a bit of slow release fertilizer. (not too much).
Could add some fine coco coir if you like.

hi guys,
i use 1 part pulverized sheep/cow/chichen manure mix, 1 part saw dust [ must be natural jarrah etc]
1 part yellow brickies sand and a hand full of NPK Blue in my 100lt pots, water every day and it works very well for me. I am in Perth.
For mulch i use cross cut shredered newspaper, very cheep and affective.
Hope this helps!
