Grafting Budding Tape (forum)

kmk starts with ...
I've read some references to a kind of grafting tape that a bud can grow through, enabling you to cover a whole scion.
Does anyone know what it's called or where I could get some?

Also an eBay search for polyfilm or parafilm comes up with different types of tape - plastic and paper - and I was wondering if there was a correct term for each?

You can put grafting tape around where the cut is to bind it tight, then for the remainder just put parafilm which is thermoplastic- it sticks to itself and yields to any bud movement. The parafilm can be obtained from a laboratory supply store, and maybe online. Instead of normal Grafting tape I use plumbers thread seal tape, It is widely available but the quality varies a lot. If you are clever you can use normal tape and just leaving only the buds peeping. Perhaps there is another product I dont know about.

Buddytape is what you are thinking of.
I have used it for a while, but you may also need to use normal budding tape to hold large grafts or large buds in place.

There is also Parafilm budding tape, but they make other types of self sealing Lab tape, which some people use in grafting, but it is heavier and wider than the Parafilm budding tape.
