I have a apricot tree that has sap oozing out of it(gumosis I think??) how do I cure this and what sprays and times are recommended for the tree. Also I had a tree that did die after fruit bearing season. This apricot tree had branch after branch go dead, loose the leaves and the bark pealed off or came off around its trunk and branches. What is this and is it gumosis?? I tried to save this tree by cutting off the branch as soon as the branch died or looked to be on its way. Please advise me on this. Thanks.

Sound like severe gumosis. The only thing to do is try to remove all the infected branches, make a paste of a copper fungicide like Kocide and spread over all wounds. The tree may be too bad and may die anyway. If planting a new one, spray tree with a copper spray every three months. It may prevent the tree getting it, there is no cure. Make sure your pruning equipment is clean and sterilised before and after cutting the trees. Also watch for Aphids and control, they spread the disease from tree to tree.

have young peach tree with gumosis. was started by a borer eating bark etc.(got him before he started to dig) had to remove sap to get at it; this then left bare timber exposed to elements and apparently gumosis occurred due to unseasonal rain. Have been told there is no cure but that tree can survive if the muck is removed early enough. exposed timber has to then be treated with something called a "mastic" (whatever that is) containing certain ingredients (dont know what they are) which is supposed to prevent reinfection. Infection in my peach tree is only a couple of months old, and I am new to gardening. This year would be be its first year of fruit if it survives, I have no idea; when I first saw it I just thought it was new sap after I removed Borer
