We are trying to preserve heirloom fruit varieties in Turkey and are interested in learning about measures taken in other countries. Orchards of traditional varieties are being destroyed and replaced by Granny Smith apples and Valencia oranges. Our website is www.fruitheritage.org

Heritage apples are getting a good run here. There are two dedicated heritage apple nurseries in Victoria that market heritage varieties to enthusiasts. When a group of people continue to grow a fruit its preservation is ensured. In short there is a market for older fruits.

Heritage fruits are running a couple of grafting days in July/August which sound good. One is at the CERES centre in Brunswick and the other is at the Collingwood Childrens Farm I think - details are on the website. You can take your stock along to be grafted by the sounds of it.
Hey Anon, if I send you an envelope can you send me some Golden Nugget gooeberry seeds? Phil.

Hi Phil, is this the only contact details you have for the heirloom apples in Melbourne as this web address has never taken me anywhere, I have tried it a few times over the last year or so.

Mary, this web site may be worth looking at,
www.fingerlime.com
these people have been researching our native finger lime. They say on their web site.
Indeed, over seventy-five distinct varieties have been identified and described during the last ten years of research and development.
