Hi to all Perth people, I was wondering if anyone knows were you can buy a good selection of hierloom seeds here in Perth. Like maybe a shop that sells eden seeds. I would like some melon seeds such as moon and stars. Thanks for any help.

A lot of shops sell Eden Seeds. Contact them to find out where - I am a bit out of touch. A service station near me sells them, and I remember a couple of health food shops, so lots of different locations.

They have a website where you can buy stuff, and then you get the full choice. They deliver in a few days, and it's really simple. Most seed companies do this.

Hi, does anyone know if vacuum sealing seeds helps to prolong their viability at all?
I am guessing it should but I would interested if anyone else has used this method?

You got me thinking of the seed packets sold by Yates. They are definately air tight sealed in foil packets, but I dont think they are vacuum sealed. They must need some air to stay viable.

Good point John Mc...maybe a lack of oxygen kills the seed embryo or such..?
I can seal the bags perfectly without using the vacuum so might do it that way instead, thanks :)

I find seeds from eden seeds are very unreliable germinators, moon and stars and sugar baby from them were unsuccessful, whereas Yates sugar babies worked.

Me too, I had mixed results with Eden, but I think they have a lot of people growing for them and some are better than others.

John, very late reply to your comment above. Like you, I don't have, or want, a credit card. But I do need to buy online sometimes. So I changed my eftpos card to a Visa debit card, and I can use it anywhere.

The bank made it very easy.

Sunrise, note my post was dated 2011!

The service station has changed hands since then, and the guy is not interested in selling seeds.
