How my fruit trees survived the winter (forum)

Trees have sap flowing through them similar to humans who have blood. What I did I decreased the freezing point of the sap by using potassium. That means that instead of the sap freezing at zero degrees it would freeze at minus 10. When the frost came the trees were not affected in the slightest and I had 12 avocado trees that had just been planted. All 12 survived the frosts.

How did you apply the potassium and in what form, application rate?
There's a competition here on this site regarding frost protection, if you post your ideas under that thread started by Correy, you have a chance to win some purchasing power at the nursery.

I am really curious about what is used as an 'interface' between leaves and frost..? Is there nothing that can be sprayed on the leaves (eg drought shield) that would protect them? (I know nothing about frost BTW.. just interested..)
We use sunblock like this after all..?

(just thinking aloud again.. :) was thinking how alcohol doesn't freeze - maybe there is something else similar..?)

Yes Amanda, thats my excuse & Im sticking to it.:)
There was a fine, but fluffy white material in rolls available in Vic.used to drape over fruit trees to prevent frost damage, but I havent seen it here.

Hillstream- Would you be willing to inform your readers as to what, where, when, how you used potassium on your avocados? We would like to learn from you. Thanx!
