How to make the trunk straight? (forum)

How can I make the trunk of this persimmon strong. It bends at the graft - shooting out quite a long and drooping branch (as you'd expect for a persimmon). I left it a year hoping that this 'branch' would shoot out some balancing branches and so turn itself into a trunk!!
Should I stake it and force it into an upright position - or should I let nature take its course???

How about staking from the right(in the pic)making the trunk straight up to the branch point, and let the 2 branches hang down? you may need to support them too, until they get thicker ?

I agree with jakfruit, that is exactly which I would do (although always better to do it from as young as possible).
