How to open durian fruit? (forum)

David starts with ...
Dear everyone,
Been seeing durian in the supermarket with the shell intact. My grandpa used to say it was easy to open them, but I never learnt how. If anyone here has seen durian, you will realize how formidable they are unopened....like a khaki, spiky cannonball.
Any tips how to open them easily?

Wear a good pair of glove when handling durian.
In the village, where we do not have glove, we wrap the durian with a towel.
If the durian is ripe, then use a screw driver to pry it open at the tip of the fruit along the seam lines, that are rather visible if you look carefully ....
unripe fruit can be very difficul to open .... and you cant eat unripe fruit pulp anyway.
