Is it worth joining the above organisation? It's only $20/yearly to get access. Just thought I'd ask first before joining up. Looks like there could be a lot of good info in the members only area.

John I was a member for a couple of years but found the only benefit was getting their newsletter, which gave a few cultivation tips and recipes but not a lot else to offer if you don't live in Adelaide. Was hoping there would be scion wood and seeds for swap or sale but in the end gave up after putting in a request for jujubes which wasn't even published in their communications column. They do have grafting days and swap meets but all very localised. It's a pity there isn't something like it in other states - I'm sure it would work well elsewhere.

Hey Phil,
Did you get much out of the online sections like:
Library, grafting, articles etc?

Yeah the articles weren't too bad but somewhat brief. I really joined to get hold of some interesting varieties they have but seems to be hard to break into if you're not a visiting member - there is a swap/sell column but you really need to travel there to use if effectively. Their website is interesting enough, some good lowdowns on subtropical plants, and they are doing a lot to preserve heritage fruits. $20 isn't bad to check it out for the year.

Thanks for that Phil. I'll join up and have a look.
I'm a (newsletter only) member of the Fraser Coast Sub-Tropical Fruit Club Inc. Probably on the same footing as this SA organisation. I live too far away to participate in their get togethers. I only subscribe($10 pa) for their newsletters. They're quite informative.

Amen to that Phil. Unless you're a local you will just get the newsletter. Nobody responded to my emails. I, like you Phil, was after varieties of fruit. I think this would be great for any state other than the state of Adelaideville ;-)

Hey Jimmy,
I'm guessing that you pay the $20 regardless of what services you participate in.
I want to have a look in the members area of their website. For $20 you get full access for a year.
