Hi Sandi
It's Harlequin Fruit, Melodinus australis from North Queensland. I have a few of these growing in Melbourne too. Cheers!

Thanks Linton. I have eaten it a long time ago. Do you know the best way to propagate it? Is it more productive under cultivation than it appears to be in the wild? Cheers.

My Harlequin vines haven't fruited yet as they are only a couple of years old. Am growing them in pots and they are very vigorous, even down here.
If they are fruiting in your area now you could just sow the seeds from a fruit and they should germinate readily. They are also very easy and fast to grow from cuttings or layering. I cut the main leaders from my plants which were growing too long and grew them on. Since then the original plants have become even more bushy and the third picture is of one of the cuttings that is powering along.
Hope this helps.
