It looks like a Pandanus. There are a few species in FNQ. If i remember the coastal tree Pandanus fruit is edible, but not worth the trouble. When they turn orange it tastes a bit like cardboard soaked in Fanta. There are cultivated types that are widely used.

Some kind of pandanus. If you look at the last four letters of its name you will see why not to eat it. The soft tissue on the tips of a ripe fruit can cause in some people a rapid and violent case of the runs. If trying it out make sure you are near to a dunny. I believe the seeds are ok to eat but would be careful with that too.

If Casillas, kadsura,duguetia and pandans collided that is what could be produced.Looks like a young pandan of some species but there is no accompanying information.

It's a species of Pandanus. I don't know the actual species of the one in the photo. Those segments making up the fruit are a very hard shelled type of nut. The kernels inside are usually edible, the local species were eaten by Aboriginal people. But getting the kernals out is a very difficult task. It's a lot of hard work and, while I like them, I generally don't feel like putting in the effort to extract them. Maybe there are easier ways, but I don't know of any.
