We have this tree on our property and as it’s fruiting I wondered if it might have medicinal properties or suitable for a relish or preserve.
I would appreciate any input, thanks

Thank you for your comment, we know the quinine tree of which we have several.
We have always recognised them with white underneath the leaf.
That said, could the tree when in fruit, go through changes with the leaf as well. I would appreciate any further information thanjs

It wouldnt go thru changes to look different. There are several species of
Petalostigma aka Quinine Bush, maybe check images to see if its another or not.

Hi Susanne
Looks like a Petalostigma triloculare tree to me based on the image i have uploaded. Aboriginals mainly use the leaves and fruits historically as anti-fungal and anti-bacterial agent as well as contraceptive for women. The fruit is said to have a high level of quinine and some people use to crush a couple of fruits into a jug of ice water for a tonic drink or mixed with a vodka will do just fine. But as a precautionary measure do your research first before using any part of the tree.
Happy Gardening :-)
