Hi ladies and gents. I have this thing (which i think is a fungus, or at least a weed) growing in my veggie patch. Does anyone know what it is and what i can do to get rid of it.
Or maybe it is good and i should keep it (which i very much doubt)?

It's one of the 'Birdnest fungi' or 'Splash Cups' (Cyathus sp.).
It's a white rot fungi and so produces enzymes (laccases and Lignin peroxidase) to break down lignin,
which the fungus feeds on.
It breaks down the lignin into stuff that other fungi can eat and turn that into food for plants.
other species of fungi (brown rot fungi) will eat the cellulose thats the splash cups leave behind.
The enzymes it produces can also break down pollutants in your soil effectively detoxifying the soil
So, nothing to worry about.
It's all good
