Bill starts with ...
I have a Japanese Maple that has what appears to be fungus (creamy colour)growing in the 1st/2nd forks of the of the main trunk. Can you help?

Thats not fungus, that looks like frass coming from a borer eating into the tree.
Remove and poke a wire down the hole.
