Help!!!! My Lime trees refuse to flower or fruit. What do I need to do to encourage them to flower? The tahitian lime did flower 3 times and produced fruit once. I have tried all types of citrus fertilisers etc to no avail.

Hi, I have a calamondin comquat (citrus which produce small fruits) which produced few fruits (harvested only 3) in its first year. I have posted about it and got advice to add some potash. It worked very well and since, it has flowered vigorously and put on loads of fruits. The amazing thing is the fruits did not start dropping like its first season. Potash was really the only thing I have added, unless the tree decided to do well this season on its own. So, potash did the trick for me.

Is yours in a pot? Mine is in a 40cm diameter pot.

Finger limes are native to this part of the country so should do well. Mine has been slow growing but I have dug it up and moved it a few times and it still grows. They can grow VERY big and the thorns are something else. Just treat them like any other citrus. Chook poo is good for the phosphate to encourage flowers and then some potash after the fruit sets.
