Hi All,
Finally I have planted all my fruit trees in the ground I've had some in pots for a couple of years. So now they're in I can get Sheep, Cow or Chicken manure delivered. Which one should I get that will really encourage my trees to grow quickly ? The trees I have are...
Apple
Peach
Plum
Cherry
Orange
Mandarin
Mango
Loquat
Avacado
Macadamia

Hi Mikey,
I'd use sheep & cow manure, with a lesser amount of chook poo. I'd also mix in some dolomite & gypsum. Keep it 150 to 200mm from the tree trunk, then cover that with heaps of mulch.
Lots of mulch is the 'secret' to growing good fruit trees.
That should help 'em get going.

Hi Mikey,
I use just about anything, eg, cane mulch, lawn clippings, twigs, palm fronds, sticks, even stones:-)
I try to make it ~300mm thick.
Remember not to fertilize these new trees for 6 to 9 months, or after you see new shoots appear.
