Hi all,

It would be nice if you could tell me where I can get this variety of grape vine in Melbourne please. I have just bought some in ALDI and those grapes are delicious.

Many thanks

I've never heard of it, but some varieties of fruit are only available commercially. In that case, you would have to buy huge amounts of cuttings, and it is illegal for the grower to sell
them (the cuttings).

I hope that is not the case, but I know either Flame seedless or Red Globe are not available to the public. Good luck with your search (and try Google).

Midnight Beauty seedless is similar to Beauty sedless (a variety I wanted to get but don't have rooms for 10 canes) .... a truly black seedless grape.
The minimum that you could buy is 10 canes, and if I remember correctly, it is available only once a year.
In some years, cane are not offered for sale at all.
Look up the Viticulture Board of WA (somewhere near Margaret River ?) and they will advise you.

Yes, I would be interested in sharing some of these vines and we are also in Perth. I think they are great. Just the way we like our grapes - large, meaty, seedless, but full of flavour and juicy.

I would like one too, if they are as good as you say. Seems we might be able to come up with enough people to buy ten - don't know about the logistics of collecting and paying for them.

I guess the same as sharing a Daley's order, which I haven't done. How does it work?

Shaun, did you come up with a price?

Foiled again! Finally tracked down where to buy them, and it is too late this year. $77 for 10 cuttings, and it seems you have to pay a membership of $11 too.

I might still be interested next year, but need to be a lot more organised!

Charles, I think it is just too late to place an order - they may not have been pruned yet. The date was 30th April from memory.

I guess they need to know well beforehand how many are wanted. Let's hope someone remembers in time next year and reminds us all. We would need to start getting organised sometime in March I think.

That would be great sg. Now it's just a case of remembering at the right time of year. Interest shown in 7 cuttings so far, so only another 3 needed - and I'm sure that won't be a problem.

Sorry, I was away for a while, and did not see the latest posts in here.
Julie, the answer to your question and Helors question can be found in my post for Beauty Seedless forim
https://www.daleysfruit.com.au/forum/beauty-seedless-grape-vines/

I am interested in Midnight Beauty Seedless too.
Please count me in for 1 or 2 canes next year when it is time to place the order.
So, it seems that we now have enough people to share the 'bunble of 10 canes'.
I was looking for Beauty Seedless but Midnight Beauty Seedless will be OK too.

At this stage, we should get co-ordinated and someone should have the email (and phone?) contact of all interested parties.
Any volunteer for the task, please?

It might be easier to organise from this end, as snottie is probably nearer the source. But I agree, time to start thinking about it. Thanks for the kind offer though.

Dear David,

The ASVO does not sell grapevine cuttings. I suggest you contact a local vine nursery or the department of primary industries office in your area.

Many thanks

most unfortunately I've been told by those responsible in Australia that only licensed commercial growers can have midnight beauty.
http://www.sun-world.com/Grapes#MIDNIGHT_BEAUTY

Daniel, Shaun Julie etc - the list mentioned in the other thread https://www.daleysfruit.com.au/forum/beauty-seedless-grape-vines/) does not have midnight beauty in it now. it does have beauty seedless and maroo (marroo). maybe this is what julie saw / maybe they changed it and we missed out? Or did I miss something?

Hi Bobby,
To be fair, this is a forum hosted at no cost to us by the generous people at Daley's. You may be stepping on their toes by offering propagating material here for sale under their noses. May I suggest contacting Daley's directly.
We do the odd swap between members here but nothing to impact Daley's bottom line.

This is a bit of an old thread but I'll post to who ever is still looking for Midnight Beauties. They are only in season between June-Sept and you can buy these at Costco. This is kind of funny, the label says they come from an Asexual reproduction of patented plants from SunWorld. Does that mean they are celebrate? WTF?
Hmmm, i don't know? These grapes are freakin huge so maybe it means they are genetically altered? I'll let you be the judge.

Grape ape, asexual reproduction means they are propagated by cutting in this case. Sexual reproduction means growing from seed, which would mean the seedling would be different than the parent and therefore not Midnight Beauty. Other forms of asexual reproduction include marcot, grafting, tissue culture, truncheon, layering, etc...
