Mulberry tree (forum)

Edwina starts with ...
I planted the dwarf mulberry tree last October, it's showing a lot of new growth and producing a lot of fruits, however, I noticed the fruits got some sort of whitish moulds attached on them .Please advise what to do.

They look like mealy bug. Controlling your ant population will help, as will having ladybird beetles. Can blast the bugs off with water temporarily but will be tedious if you have heaps of fruit. There may be an insecticide that helps, but I personally woud be reluctant as chemical residue would be a little hard to wash off a mulberry properly. Sometimes plants are more susceptible to bugs like these if they are stressed (such as too little water in hot weather).
