My mangos keep splitting (forum)

My mango tree has just come in to fruit and I don't know what to do to stop them splitting

It may be a case of being well watered for a time then let too dry for too long. I have seen trickle irrigation working well for mango plant and fruit health.

Hi Ash80 & denice, sometimes mangoes split from being dry a long time, then they get too much water, which gives them a growth spurt and they split.

Too true....I just split many of my tangellos the other day...left the retic on all day by mistake (usually and hour only)...add the sudden change in o/night temps and heavy dews - which also doesn't help :-(
