I wonder if anyone has anything more sad looking than my red grapefruit tree?
With all these pictures of lovely plants I thought I'd be brave and post the 'shocker' that lurks in my garden.... :)

That could be one expensive grapefruit ... however, I reckon a prune, compost, mulch and regular does of liquid seaweed will have that tree looking good in no time. Ohhh ... i wouldnt let the tree fruit again until well established.

Ellen, Id be really interested to know if you soursop survive through the winter ... good luck :)

But I am hopeful though, as I saw on Kath's edible fruit tree, she have 1 too, apparently she posted that this fruit tree do shed it leaves during winter . So there is strong HOPE in this fruit tree for me .

Good diagnosis HappyEarth! I have just pruned it - it had a rotten shape to it..and yes - i shouldn't have let it carry that fruit as it was only it's second season...therein lies my lesson ;)
I really just posted it for a bit of a laugh....and to see if anyone else wanted to join in on this cathartic experience.!?

I'm sure there is a 'shocker' lurking in most gardens but they are a bit like the black sheep of the family and don't get 'talked about'..he he.

I think we all have one of these hiding in amongst our gardens somewhere. This is my poor sad tree, it's only been in the ground since last summer, but I think the winds are just too cold for it.

Good on you paula-f! although that tree has some distinct pathology going on - is it a mangoe?
The red blotches are telling a story - i just can't remember which one! I would do a deficiency search on google?

BTW: I recently had laboratory soil tests done and it has been the best money I have ever spent on my garden - I would highly recommend it to anyone who invests lots of time and $ on their fruit trees.

Sorry amanda, I labelled the pic with star-apple, but forgot to add it to my post.
I'll have a search and see if I can come up with anything, otherwise I might try moving it to a new position, or even into a pot.

Had a closer look at it today, and the poor tree is absolutely covered in tiny scale. Will have to get the white oil out tomorrow.

Hi Paula-f...have u tried the Eco-oil? I used to use white-oil but find this stuff better in that it doesn't burn the plants as easily. You can mix it with other things too (eg: foliar nutrients) which is handy.
