Hi everyone in Perth, I was wondering if any one is growing any of the native raspberries here in Perth? Or if you know if they would even survive?

I think they come from Qld or aleast the East coast. I dont think your allowed to get them through quarantine thats why I was wondering if anyone already had them here in WA. I am not even shure if they would grow here, but I do like a challenge and the unusual.

People grow 'regular' raspberries in Perth Jon M - so a native type should be fine I would have thought..?
Do u mean the Atherton Raspberry..?

Hi Amanda, yes its the Atherton Raspberries that I was after. Not sure if they would grow here but would like to give it a go. Something different and I like pulling my hair out when something dosn't work out :)

I think they will grow Jon M - it gets cold on the Atherton Tablelands too..!? Maybe Mike or Brendan would know more tho...?
Summer might be more the problem...if they behave like regular raspberries..?

They grow at higher altitudes to at least 1300m and places that get below 0.Dry hot conditions would be the challenge for Atherton Raspberries.

So I guess with our summers over here it might be a little too much for them. I will have to think some other plant to look for then for now. Though I think I would still give it a go if I got hold of one.
