I have a nectarine tree, which has blossomed, and formed a good crop of fruit, this year and last, but the fruit forms, grows to about the size of a golf ball, but no bigger, and does not ripen. Last year was the first year it had fruit. Can anybody help please

Hello Kay - I had a similar problem this year with mine (they were half ripe) and yet the peaches 3m away sublime!. They had plenty of sun etc. I reckon I just had too many fruit on the poor thing and maybe not enuf' food in the soil.
Strange problem tho' as mine had all the sun n water they needed. Next season I will be brave and thin the fruit. I also plan on giving it liquid nitrogen feeds early spring.

Hi amanda
Thank you for your response. Last year I put it down to fact that it was the first year it had produced any fruit.
I covered the tree with bird netting, and then the fruit just stops growing.
I will try again next year, although it is very disappointing. I was looking forward to a fruit or two.

Same problem. Lovely crop, not ripening on a young tree. I'm currently heavy-watering to see if I can bring on some growth. Not hopeful. Plums not 2 yards away magnificent.
