Non grafted Passionfruit (forum)

Hi. I have read many comments about invasiveness of grafted passionfruit which even years after removing the plant, still shoots come out of the ground. I want to avoid this, my question is that if I plant a non grafted black passionfruit (Nelly Kelly) am I safe or I should still be worried of having a very invasive root system. Thanks all.

You have nothing to worry about especially if its a cutting, which seem to have the least invasive roots.

I had a passiflora edulis seedling and a friend had a big fruited passiflora edulis, so I took a tip cutting home this last Feb. and did a whip graft and wrapped it in para-film. Also, I cut all the leaves off and wrapped the scion in para-film it took and I planted it outside but it did not make it thru our cold winter event! I was surprised that it took first of all now I just need to find hardier rootstock. I don't see why flavacarpa wouldn't go onto passiflora edulis which is much hardier than flavacarpa.
