Orange Tree (forum)

I inherited a beautiful big orange tree when i moved into a new house 2 years ago (and a lemon tree which has since died). Since we moved in we have done absolutley nothing to it but it's still huge, green and produces hundreds of oranges which are relatively nice on the inside. The downfall is all the oranges have brown rust like patches on their skin- see picture. The leaves are green and lush and have no disease as far as i can tell. Does anyone know what this is or how to fix it or avoid it? thanks for your help.

The discolouration appears to be on the parts of the oranges that face out only (in your picture anyway)could it be sun damage? Jantina

They look like blood oranges to me, which would explain the colour of the skin.

no they're not blood oranges, just regular ones. i think you might be right jacinta, it does seem to mostly be the ones exposed to sunlight that are affected.
is this anything to worry about? does it decrease the quality of the fruit?
thanks for your help
