Hi abkaisure, how are these melons used/prepared? There is evidence that bitter melon is helpful for diabetics.

Bitter melon are usually grated when pale green, before going yellow. I dont know if they are still effective when yellow. Mix the gratings into a lettuce salad and you avoid wincing at the strong flavour.

I remove the seeds and slice the green melon thinly and use in stirfry. Interestingly, my mini foxy loves to eat the bitter melon in the stir fry - she prefers it to chicken.

Hi Amanda, i can say this organic golden melon is a healthy choice out of all melon, yes it's bitterness is strong but is very effective against diabetes. In Taiwan this melon is used as herbs and it's extraction of juices are used as catalyst in many medicine. 1 way to cover it's bitterness is squeeze some honey and stir well, serve as fruit juice, definitely a very healthy and immune boosting catalyst. :) I drank it raw, endure the taste because i know it's doing me great so it's worth it.

The mini gourd vines are a weed in my garden. I have eaten plenty of the bigger fruit ones but the mini ones I pick all the ripe and unripe fuits and put them in a plastic bag and chuck them into my garbage bin. Not sure how the mini one came to grow in my garden but I think somes birds are the culprits. Note: The seeds and red arils are said to be toxic. In the old days, the vines are grown on a trellis as shade for other vegoes.

Hi all,
Recently I found some tiny melons growing in the wild look very much like bitter melon. I am not sure if it is edible but the vine and the fruits inside out look the same.
