Passionfruit not ripening and falling off the vine (forum)

Hi - my passionfruit vine has produced stacks of fruit. The only issue is that none have ripened and they keep falling off the vine. The vine is looking a bit sad now too with leaves yellowing and falling off.

Thanks,

TamarilloLover who also loves Passionfruit!

At what growth stage do the fruit fall off? What colour? And do they fall off with the stalk still attached? Any evidence of possums chewing the skin?
(I have a lot of trouble with possums in a tall passionfruit in my Sydney backyard. Typically in their rummaging a lot get knocked off the plant with little if any chewing marks, and the stalk is no longer attached. This happens just before they start to ripen, ie the possums strike before the fruit has a chance to ripen. I've got another in the front yard right next to a busy road, and only 1.5m off the ground - no problems with that one - possums prefer a bit more safety. Possums around here are mostly ringtails)

Hi Davewastech,

They are all green. No sign of nibbles on the skin. They are on a terrace balustrade. High off the road but low off the terrace. I've seen rat poops.

So maybe its critters and not a fungus or other

Hi TamarilloLover,
Yeah, not sure. Is it in a pot or in the ground? Presumably it's the usual grafted Nelly Kelly passionfruit?
Yellowing leaves suggest something in its soil is not so good - should be well drained, well fertilised, and not allowed to get too dry.
