Passionfruit not ripening starts with ...
My Panama red passionfruit grow to a large size and then they don't seem to ripen, and shrivel up into a crinckled appearance like this photo. I can tell when they are going to begin this crinckling when they change to a lighter colour and go a bit rubbery. Can anyone help me understand what I am doing wrong?

The plant is taking water from the fruit . Apply a watering can of water in the morning and one at dusk every day.

You must be a bit confused now PNR..? I have had the same problem though. Also - how much fruit is the vine carrying?

It's pretty hard to get a vine to carry more fruit than it can support.

I am trying to grow Nellie Kelly passionfruit. The flower starts to appear, but within a few days, what should be the beginning of the fruit, it just schrivells up and falls of the vine. The leaves look beautifully healthy, but no fruit.
Can anyone please give me some advice.
Thanks

Thanks for your idea Glennis...makes sense when you think about that. As I said earlier, we have had so much rain up here lately, I didn't think water would be a problem. I will try more water. Also, I put a little potash around the base last night.

Thanks Amanda, the vine is carrying lots of fruit now and lots of flowers, so I guess I should give it more sustenence. Last year, I think I would have had 75% of the fruit go crinckly, so I would like to get to the bottom of this.

Hi
can someone give me some advice please. The plant looks health enough, the flower opens up and within a couple of days instead of the shell beginning it schrivel up.

My young Sunshine Special is having the same problem. Just noticed one of the fruits has shrivelled up like the pictures above.

I think it could be to do with the amount of fruit on such a small plant? Unfortunately I just can't find any time atm to check it out a bit more.

Will keep updating though.

My sunshine specials going great Wazzbat...have even started flowering again...? It surprises me how many problems folk have growing passionfruit? I wish I could see some of these vines sometimes...

Perhaps the vines are overloaded after all...(I know mine aren't - and they have also been a bit neglected this summer - apart from water...and no shrivelling at all) especially if they are still young...
