Hi, My dwarf peach lost about 15 little fruit today. Its growing in a pot, last watered 4 days ago. Do I need to water it more frequently or is it normal to loose some fruit like this?

A lot of factors here. Firstly how old is the tree and how many fruit is it trying to manage?
Drop in a young tree is perfectly normal, in a mature tree could be stress. (water, food and sun being factors)

Hi Jason, The tree is only 3 years old. Happy to hear this is normal and not anything I have done or neglected to do. Thanks.

Hi Bucko - my 3 yr old peach tree was dropping a lot of fruit recently too - figuring I had nothing to lose I upped the water and gave it some good soaks...it's stopped dropping them now (my passionfruit was the same too). It's hard to know what to do sometimes!? :)

Sadly these little pests beat me (and the fruit fly) to my fruit this year.
These little grubs have eaten the base of the new leaves and infested almost all of the fruit.

Hi Amanda,
Yes its really disapointing, the peaches from last year were fantastic.
I suspect Oriental Fruit Moth is the problem, well it seams to fit the description...
"Infestation can occur any time from late September till the end of the season. Wilting lateral tips are the first sign of infestation. Splitting shoots in half will reveal a tunnel following the centre of the shoot. When fruit are infested, the larvae normally enters near the stem and burrows into the stone leaving a trail of brown excrement. Fruit often gums at the point of entry."

Bah, I have Oriental Fruit Moth in my peach tree. They've made a right mess of it. Some parts look like they are covered in lard and silica gel. Oh well, it was great while it lasted. Will dig him up this afternoon in favour of another mango :)

BJ if you are a real mango fan are you in the market for chokadam/sam ru du seeds?I think I saw in another thread that santol is a real favourite so I suppose you're chasing seeds of those also.

Mike, seeds of sam ru du would be gleefully received. I dont suppose they'd be true to type like other SE Asian mangoes? I am quite fond of a good Santol too :)

In about a week then BJ unless I get sam ru du sooner. If you're interested in herbs and vegies I could sweeten the pot with a few of those.
