My peanut butter tree is full of flowers , however, after they have opened then just fall off. Do I need to do something else or is my tree too young to fruit yet. I have only had it in since January this year. Thanks.

I assume you can google your way around the net to find more info.
Tanya, can't help you, sorry. Mine has been in the ground two years and hasn't got around to flowering at all.

Mark, if you're not interested in an explanation you shouldn't ask for one.
Tanya, lacking advice for this specific plant I can only suggest the usual fruit tree pampering around flowering time - plenty of water, Seasol, and maybe some hand pollination.

Hi Tanya and Firefly, I have a peanut butter tree still in a pot that flowered in January but dropped all it's flowers after it got a bit dry one very hot day. Since then I've been very careful to keep it damp and it has flowered again and this time appears to be growing small fruits . The only thing I have given it is Seasol I will be very pleased indeed if the fruit matures.

I have only had experience here in the tropics . But Bunchosia has had some fruits at approx 2m tall . Have heard this is common . I enjoy the fruit and was given a large punnet full that I ate and enjoyed over a few days . Seeds have sprouted even after storage of fruits in the fridge . I do not like the common name , as in no way does it taste like peanut butter .

trikus, how would you describe the flavour?
I've never tasted one and my tree's only about four feet tall, so it would seem I've got some time to wait before I do.

Flavour is not strong , not very sweet , but I find it pleasant , easily eating a cup or more in a sitting . Sort of like a watered down dried apricot & pear taste .

After only 6 months from purchasing our peanut butter tree, WOW, we have our very first fruit. Picture tells the story. Yes we have had 1,000's of flowers with the little fruit appearing and then suddenly they fall off. However the flowers have all gone now and we are left with in total 4 little fruits, which are in various stages of development. Our tree has sunlight from around 9.30am (REAL WA TIME) to around 2.00 pm (real WA time) only. My friend who bought hers at the same time has had no flowers what so ever. Then she has a dense canopy, which she grows hers under. I found that when I put a mound of broken up branches and then put some sheep poo and leaf mulch the tree grew so quickly. It loves water, and nitrogen based foods. We also give it some seaweed and fish emulsion once a month. Now it is cooler we have stopped this practice but will begin again in September, or maybe even in August. In its first 6 months it grew a 1.3 metres and every single branch had at least 20 long flower stems. Hope the picture gives you some hope :o)

Hi Kath, yes we bought ours via Joe who bought it from Daley's. My husband and I are very fond of the tree. We planted it in honour of our little dog we lost 6 months back now. It is like she is part of the tree. Joe's plants are at Tassonetrees in Swan View I think the suburb is, or out that way anyway.
Let us know how you go with yours if you buy one. They are a really beautiful tree to watch grow. I am sure it will be a lovely small shade tree giving a good canopy and keeping the soil cool around its trunk area.

Mine has also just got 5 or 6 little fruit that have appeared. I gave up checking it every day and this afternoon this is what I found. Now I just have to wait for them to grow.
