Hi Cape York this is a forum (basically a chat site) for growers so your message may or may not be read by someone working for Daleys - to leave a message for the nursery please go to:

Go to 'shop' link on left. Go to the search box and type in 'peanut tree'. Sterculia quadrifida will come up first - tube stock @ $2.95.

Thanks
No wonder I was getting nowhere I was going to the catalogue site.
Followed your instructions unfortunately cannot proceed with purchase as they do not send to a PO Box number and up here that is all we have.
Thanks anyway, will try elsewhere.
Regards

Thanks
Our local town is 38 km away and everyone has PO Boxes, no delivery.
Our nearest town with local delivery is nearly 300 km away.

Sterculia Peanut Trees in Melbourne
There are a few of these growing in the Melbourne Botanic Gardens which indicates that they can be readily grown here. Therefore I would like to know how good the nuts taste and if they are worth growing for the nuts. Thanks.

They are a big tree. I like them lots.I have one planted on the footpath and dont give it anything - it grows slow and steadily. They are tough. I also have a related sp from Borneo with flesh around the seed with reported stimulant properties. looks a bit like a skinny cocoa pod.

Mad! Looking for Mad Tree!
It used to be called Sterculia alata, a relative of the Peanut tree we have here, but now the name has changed to Pterygota alata. In India it's known locally as Buddha
