Persimmon Fuyu (forum)

Patsy starts with ...
I purchased this persimmon from you earlier this year and it has always had a yellow line around the edge of the leaf . Is this normal ? Also it has never looked very healthy and I think it could be dying . Any ideas would be welcome . It's caged as we have paddy melons who eat our plants . Thanks patsy

The scorching at the leaf tips could be from too much sun heat. Persimmons are susceptible to this. Can be exacerbated if near a reflective surface (say, a bright fence).
I had this during the first summer. Some sun-cloth shielding the fence helped with that.

The leaf roll is most likely from lack of water. I'd suggest purchasing a moisture meter.
Some trees will suck up water a lot quicker and so, may need a tad extra, to your regular watering regime.

I just purchased my Fuyu tree in Melbourne. Have heard that young trees are sensitive to fertilizer. Given it is spring time is it worth fertilizing ? I am also giving it time to harden in its original bag before planting in soil next spring. Thanks for any advice.
