My Gulf Gold Plum has developed this leaf curl on the new growth. Are you able to assist in determining what might be causing this and how to treat. Cheers.

The main cause of leaf curl plum are aphids. They suck the trees' fluids which contains its life blood which causes the young leaves to curl. Their vampire like activity produces a product called honeydew which in turn attracts ants to feed on the sweet secretion of the aphids which causes a secondary disease called sooty mold. To control these suckers you can use physical method (quick hard jet stream of water,or squash them with your fingers) or chemical means (horticultural oil, neem oil or non-toxic insecticidal soap). Alternate your treatment between the chemicals to reduce resistance build up in the insects. When spraying with chemicals always wear your PPE and cover all areas of the plant including the undersides of the leaves for best result.
Another probable cause is herbicide over spray. To a lesser degree inadequate irrigation.

Leaf curl is caused by a fungus. It's too late to do anything about it this year. Next year, spray the leaves before leaf bud-swell and at early bud-swell with a copper based fungicide like Bordeaux or copper oxychloride. Do it every year in late winter or the problem will recur every year.
