Hi,
I bought a pomegranate tree three years ago which is growing well. We had three fruit in the first year, which was most promising, but nothing since. The flowers look like they are going to develop, but then drop off. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Steve

Is it growing furiously Steve? sometimes fruit trees drop their fruit while they are young to concentrate on growing. The other thing might be water stress. Pomegranates are very tough when established but need adequate water to establish a good root system or they will drop their fruit in favour of survival. Is it well mulched?

Thanks Jantina. Yes, it's growing well enough - perhaps I should be more patient! I will apply some more mulch though.......

Does anyone have any further comments about why a pomegrante may drop young fruit.
I have had a fried ask me about this, but i could only can suggest eratic watering and lack of correct fertaliser.

Any other possibilities?

I will be giving them a cup of fruit tree fertaliser and advising they water consistantly. Anything else?

Hi Steve & Russ & Jantina, sorry I am of no help to this though I have a young pomegranate tree, left behind by previous owner. Mine has lots of leaves but no sight of flowers or fruits. It is mulched. Are they supposed to flower now? If not when?
