Hi All,
I had a quarter of this avo this morning,(on toast), taste is better then Hass IMHO.

The flesh up top is 30mm thick, flesh at the bottom is 25mm thick.

It's a seed-grown tree about 33 years old :-)

Yum Brendan! The flesh looks great...is it your tree? If not - maybe u should graft it!?

I wonder where the purple skin gene came from?

Nice, you can see from the photo even that the flesh is real smooth. I thought it would be a really dark purple almost black like they are near mexico city. I haven't seen a light purple one though so that's something interesting, maybe a hybrid between the two types. The seeds arrived too :).

Hi amanda & Jason,
Yes, it's my tree & it's a seed-grown avo, so the seeds 'should' be true to type.
Funny thing Jason, some years the purple colour does go very dark, almost black, as you said?
Btw, it's a type 'A' :-)

This is a ripe 'purple avocado' Jason. You can see the skin is nearly black, flesh is 'better than Hass' IMO. Tree has now finished bearing for this year :-(
BTW, this avo was just a tad under 600g! Hass are around 150g.
