What variety of raspberry would do well in tropical Innisfail FNQ please - very wet during the summer months, humid and hot. No real winter to speak of, no frost.
Thanks

Giant bramble does reaaally well in that area, and it isn't a declared weed (yet)!
(But seriously folx- because the giant bramble does so well if I had the courage I might try one of the modern giant raspberries. Have a talk with Trina at the Mission Beach monster market and see what she recommends. She will probably have something much better and much better suited to the area.)

Thanks Manfred. Tina it is then. What day does MB market operate please? I take it that's the market in the big park on the way up to the giant cassowary at the resort?

Only agricultural pest can be declared in Qld not environmental weeds. The mollucensis is rampant and should be avoided and the berries are poor anyway.

Easy there Mike Tr- I wasn't recommending it, just having a joke about what raspberries grow well in Innisfail, which I suspect RosscO already knows very well. The berries are indeed worthless, being small and nearly tasteless, with poor texture.
Yes R. The monster market is the last Sunday of the month in Marc's Park, but they usually don't operate during the wet season. Coming from your direction that's on the way to the big cassowary.
I did have Trina's card but I seem to have misplaced it. Perhaps Trikus can chime in with some contact advice, as he and Trina are both heavies of Rare Fruits Australia, Cassowary Coast Branch. You can do it Michael!
