Red Navel Orange tree (forum)

Kathleen starts with ...
I have a red navel orange tree thats about 1 and a half years old and there was a branch coming out of the side of it and I put a stick in the middle of the tree to hold up that branch and it doesn't seen to be getting any oranges on it just new growth except for a few oranges coming up on the bottom branches, should I cut branches off the top??? What should I do?? Please HELP!!!

Here is another picture of my orange tree. Actually this is what it looks like now. Please Help me, I can't wait to be able to eat some of my oranges.I am the one that has the problem with a tall branch that was coming out the side and I put a stick in the middle of it. I didn't realize that I was able to attach 2 pictures thats why I am sending this one as well.

A plant with a stake is always weak, cut the plant back to the point it can support itself, and go from there.

It looks healthy to me. Interesting that you say it produces fruit on the bottom branches. Did the fruit fall off? I can't see any in that picture.

As a general rule usually plants will bush out at the bottom if you cut the highest tips off them. Otherwise it will power on towards the sun. Is the new growth at the bottom above the graft?

Ok I will take the stake out and cut the middle branch off. Also yes there was about 5 oranges that were growing, they were very small and yes they all did fall off. So now do you think that I should just cut the tree down half way? Thank you so much for ALL your help. God bless you.
