Rheedia are from South America and Garcinia are from Asia ... much confusion regarding names as so many of the common names are very similar or the same for different species . Thus creating arguments amongst botanists collectors and growers . Seems to be at least 3 species that could be Achacha , Check here ,

This small seedling Garcinia came from seed collected in Cooktown .
It is most likely G livingstonei , and I will have to prepare an area in my highest and driest spot to plant it out . And also search for a partner or 2 as it is a diecious species and will need a partner.

Certainly looks like an imbe. I recently bought a few extras from ebay, bare-rooted little things (sold as orange mangosteen). about $5 each i think. I have 5, and dont see why people call them unattractive plants...

Not really. It depends on the root of the sucker. If the root has secondary roots and no damage is done during digging then the sucker will grow. The suckers from roots only if the roots are cut from the mother tree.

Does anyone know where to get seeds or (preferably) seedlings of the bumpy skinned garcinia sometimes called Madruno (not the Daley's 'Madruno', which is the standard smooth skinned tiny garcinia - maybe intermedia?) or charichuelo? Either acuminata or madruno. I'm also interested in finding the magnifolia 'madruno'.
I have a few of the 'madrono' plants and although I quite like them, their fruits are so small. I'd like to search out the larger fruited and reportedly superior types. I've heard that they take longer to fruit, but time is on my side :)
