Seeking 'Coolidge' Feijoa (pineapple guava) (forum)

I am seeking a 'Coolidge' feijoa, because it is the only 100% self fertile cultivar.
Seems bizarre that it is so hard to find given it is an Australian cultivar.

Was the one on eBay from an Australian seller? That would be surprising.
Also google got rid of that Australian pages only search function 2 years ago.

It was on ebay.com.au so I imagine so.. maybe contact the member involved. I think Glowinski mentions Coolidge but I've never seen one for sale anywhere

The one that's been brought in from NZ recently - White Goose - is supposed to be a winner. I dont think it is fully self-fertile though but is supposed to put current commercial cultuivars to shame for production, size (avg. 80-90g) and taste. Its brother, the Golden Goose, also looks like a good fruit and even bigger, but the taste is supposedly not quite as good and I dont know if it has been brought in as yet...

I don't like the taste of Feijoas!
I tried one about 20 years ago and it tasted terrible. Now I would like to try growing some as there seems to be some new ones around and I would like to know which type tastes the best.
The White Goose sounded good so I contacted Turners but they don't post plants. Is there any other nursery selling this type that I might be able to get to send one?

Linton, they seem to vary in size and taste enormously. Then again, some people just don't like them!

Wanted - White Goose Feijoa!
I've tried everywhere down here but they don't seem to have them. Only Turners Garden Centre in Brisbane have them and they also have Lemon Gold Sapotes but they don't send plants.
And Theos Nursery in Kallangur have White Goose but they don't send plants either. Any suggestions as to how I can get one will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Call birdwood direct and ask if they have sent any to your neck of the woods. I've been eyeing them off in my local - Nova Gardens, but the $50 price tag has me a bit gun shy, especially as none of my 3 year olds from daleys (duffy, mammoth and nazematze) have produced anything as yet...

BJ take heart the duffy i had produced in abundance, trouble is every ff in the local area got to know the fact so ended up with zilch.this variety is a good producer you have to net to stop the ff.I eventually gave up and as Mike would say is now on mulch patrol.
